Jason R. Jones

Mr.
Jones is an equity partner at Thorpe, North & Western, where
his
practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property
law.
Mr. Jones received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Utah in 1998. He received
a
Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah College of Law in 2001.
Prior
to being admitted to the bar, Mr. Jones spent over a decade employed in
the aerospace industry, where he worked with a wide range of mechanical
and servo-hydraulic systems and sophisticated data collection
systems. Mr. Jones was also previously employed as a
contracts
associate for the technology transfer office of the University of Utah,
where he gained experience in technology licensing and transfer
agreements and other intellectual property protection mechanisms.
Mr.
Jones’ legal practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of
United States and foreign patents in the mechanical sciences, as well
as in a variety of trademark and copyright matters, including trademark
opposition practice. Mr. Jones has prosecuted patent
applications
in specific areas of technology including medical devices and
procedures, robotics, energy systems, optics, recreational equipment,
tools, business methods and computer software. Mr. Jones’ practice also
encompasses preparation of patent and trademark infringement opinions
and technology transfer agreements, including licenses and assignments
of all types of intellectual property.
Mr.
Jones is admitted to the Utah State Bar, where he is a member of the
Intellectual Property Section, and is registered to practice before the
U.S. District Court and the District of Utah.
