Diversity & Inclusion Policy

TNW has been and continues to be committed to a vibrant diverse workplace and is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion, which is representative of the world-wide innovators and businesses we serve. We embrace and encourage differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, national origin, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family or marital status, political affiliation, religion, socio-economic status, and any other characteristics that make our employees and clients unique. Reference to “employees” herein is intended to include all employees as well as all company stakeholders or partners.

TNW diversity and inclusion initiatives relate to the promotion of policies in recruitment and selection of employees, compensation and benefits, professional development and training, promotions, social and recreational programs, and the ongoing development of a work environment built for respectful communication and cooperation, teamwork, and employee participation. TNW policies welcome and take in consideration varying perspectives and contribution by all to promote greater understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion.

TNW understands the importance of flexible schedules to accommodate employee needs. Decades ago, TNW pioneered flexible working arrangements for its professionals as an alternative to the rigid traditional law firm model. This flexibility allows our professionals to pursue their career goals while respecting their outside obligations, such as those related family and/or community activities. Our flexible working arrangement has also allowed for some professionals to work remotely from locations that are more favorable for their personal circumstances.

All employees at TNW have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect at all times. All employees are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other company-sponsored and participative events. Employees, and particularly attorneys, are encouraged to attend and complete diversity and inclusion training or programs, including that which may be available in connection with their continuing legal education. Any employee found to have exhibited any inappropriate conduct or behavior against others in areas of diversity and inclusion may be subject to disciplinary action. Employees who believe they have been subjected to any kind of discrimination that conflicts with the TNW diversity and inclusion policy are encouraged to seek assistance from a supervisor who may assist with taking corrective actions as may be warranted.

As TNW is uniquely positioned geographically in the mountain west region and works primarily with attorneys with background in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), TNW feels a particular responsibility in assisting with cultivating a culture of diversity and inclusion from groups who may be underrepresented in STEM fields and in particular, in STEM-related legal fields. TNW has developed a scholarship for multiple students each year that promotes diversity and inclusion in technology by encouraging under-represented classes of people to pursue college degrees in technology, and further encouraging legal training for STEM students.
