About David W. Osborne
David is a registered patent attorney whose legal practice encompasses all aspects of counseling clients in identifying and protecting intellectual property rights. Two predominant areas are obtaining U.S. and international patents and trademarks and advising clients on intellectual property-related business issues. David’s technical training is in biology and chemistry and prior to attending law school, he worked for several years as a chemist in the environmental and pharmaceutical fields. David’s patent experience encompasses a diverse range of technologies. Specific examples include pharmaceutics and drug delivery, stem cells, protein labeling and expression, epigenetics, gene silencing and expression, reproductive medicine, polymerase-RNA complexes, chromatography and spectrometry, microarrays, PCR, nutritional supplements, skin and hair care formulations, vascular access catheters, polymers, explosives, biofuels, waste water treatment systems, semiconductor fabrication, chemical mechanical planarization, thermal management in electronic devices, chemical and electrical sensors, NAND and phase change memory, capacitors and batteries, LED’s, diamond synthesis and diamond abrasive tools among others. As an inventor and entrepreneur himself, David is named on several issued U.S. patents and has started and successfully exited his own companies. He believes in a business-focused approach to intellectual property and continually strives to identify and create business value for his clients. David enjoys educating others on intellectual property issues and has lectured on various topics. David dedicates much of his free time to the Boy Scouts of America and enjoys coaching soccer. He is a collector of railroad and national park antiquities and is recognized as the firm’s resident expert on all things Disney.
